April 2nd, 2009, 11:36 pm - There's a zombie on your lawn. We don't want zombies on the lawn. Or: SUNFLOWER!

If you watch just one YouTube video today, let it be this one. You won't be disappointed. BEST. SONG. EVER.

I realize it's an ad for a Popcap game, but it is so effing awesome. You can download the song here, there's even a Japanese version.

This is probably the second game i'll play based solely on liking a song that's in it.

God, sometimes the internet makes me so happy.

April 2nd, 2009, 07:00 am - Merry Maple.

Last night, i PvP'd with my girlfriend, and i'm not ashamed.

I'm having trouble sleeping lately. Which is why i'm awake after an hour and fourty minutes of sleep, after having slept only five hours yesterday. Yum.

I nicked my ear shaving last night, and there is a drop of dried blood on my shoulder, underneath that ear.

I supposedly have jury duty on the 20th.

I also supposedly have a nice tax refund coming. It will be used for a few small things, and saving, and letting me go see the like 8378268397 movies that come out in the next couple of months, maybe.

I play WoW, and i play Pokemon Platinum, and i love my girlfriend a lot, and i wish i could sleep.

I'm so happy right now. Look what i got!

For those of you who don't know, you get this pet in World of Warcraft when you collect 50 other pets in the game. I've been working on getting him ever since i knew he existed. It was the one thing i wanted most in the game. So cute!

And that video of Neil Gaiman on Colbert Report i posted on YouTube and here yesterday took off. It's had almost 10,000 views in 24 hours, got some honors, (#99 - Most Viewed (Today) - Australia, #64 - Most Viewed (Today) - Entertainment - Australia, #50 - Most Viewed (Today) - Entertainment - Canada, #64 - Most Viewed (Today) - Entertainment, #94 - Top Favorited (Today, #21 - Top Favorited (Today) - Entertainment), got linked on Boing Boing and a blog on the Time magazine website, and a bunch of other places. Pretty awesome.

February 24th, 2009

February 24th, 2009, 11:48 pm - ::Peeks In::

Haven't had much to say that i think the general public would really be interested in, but i have a few things i can babble about, so here goes...

Recently: I caught up on six months of Pokemon episodes i hadn't watched. I can't use a DVR. I can't. I record things, and can't discipline myself to actually watch them. So i had all these episodes saved, but unwatched. Well Cartoon Network ran a marathon for about 14 hours on President's Day, and i watched all the episodes i hadn't got to yet. ("Gotta Watch 'Em All"?) Cartoon Network and i did the exact same thing six months or so ago: Lazy me DVRs but doesn't watch, CN has a marathon, i catch up. Win.

I got my Death Knight to level 80 in World Of Warcraft. Never thought i'd do that. Thing is, she's not fun now. I can't bring myself to quest if all i get is a bit of gold or rep from it, and i don't PVP or do raids or whatever. I solo, or play with my woman, but i'm not about to have a 14 year old kid yelling at me because i haven't memorized how to run a 25man raid with my eyes closed. Having a "role" and spending all your time grinding for equipment in order to fulfil your "duties" as a ____ (select one)

A) Healer
B) Tank
C) DPS
D) Kid Who Spends All His Time Playing WoW

is *work*. Plain and simple. I'm paying to play. You're not paying me. I'm here to have fun, not sit and say "Sir, yes sir" to a kid organizing a raid. Nope. Not happening. So there it is, level 80, and not much to do.

She's still useful. I auction things with her. I could farm for things to sell. I'm raising her engineering, and now she can make fireworks that i can pass out to all my characters, which i love to use in the game for some reason. So she's still around, but i'm back to my level 65... 66! hunter. I learned a lot on my DK that's changing how i play her, and it's still fun, but i'm still a bit bummed about having to kinda lay off my DK, and about how the same may happen with my hunter in a while, but we'll see.

Had an awesome Valentine's Day/Weekend. Thanks, Babydoll.

Did some other, very wonderful, things that i'm not going to talk about here right now. Maybe someday.

Right Now: Listening to music, drinking tea and eating soup.

Soon: Play a little WoW, watch Daily Show and Colbert Report, and probably "The Incredible Hulk" after that. I've taken to watching movies i never would have paid for in theaters due to having no idea if they were worth the eight bucks it cost to see them (or BECAUSE i had an if they were), and usually i drag the girl into watching with me. ("Doomsday" wasn't... horrible. AvP 2 was passable. Watched "Zach and Miri" [her idea] on Valentine's Day, and it was good... Still have "30 Days Of Night"...) But i'm not gonna bug her with "...Hulk". I dunno if she cares about the dumb movies i pick. ;P It's rainy, and she's asleep, i got my chores done, and i'm kinda burned out on gaming tonight, so i'll have a quiet night watching a movie and taking it easy.

November 11th, 2008, 05:13 pm - L to the J.

I just had a really cool little run in Persona 3 over the last 45 minutes or so.

First i discovered that when fusing personas, if you deselect and reselect some of them, the moves that the new persona you're trying to make will gain change (AWKWARD SENTENCE), so you can actually wait til a moveset you like appears, and give it to them. iI guess i probably should have known this by now, but it's awesome to know, so i can pick useful things, instead of having it happen randomly like before. Also, i made two really good persona at a high level who have a great variety of moves (one has ice/fire/poison/light/physical moves, and one has strong fire and multiple lightning moves. So cool.), and cover a lot of attacks so i can get other personas with other attacks. And: One of my long-time personas leveled; i got two personas i've been wanting to make, in shuffles (it seems like suddenly i have a new set of personas in my shuffles, ones i've never seen in shuffles before); i got a few rare items in Tartarus; and all my characters got tired, finally, so i can stop screwing around in Tartarus and actually progress the story, after two days of just leveling. Awesome.

::realizes this is absolute gibberish to people who haven't played this game, and especially to people who don't really game at all::

April 22nd, 2008, 02:17 am - Avoid high temperature,aquosity and direct sunlight.

I'm in between things, and haven't made a post in a while, so...

Still playing Okami. Getting a little "Okay, i've been at this a bit too long", but i think it's winding down. Maybe. I love it, though. I still have Dirge of Cerberus out, but haven't played it since Okami came.

From the library i have: Dragon Ball volume 6, Hellsing volume 6, a short story compilation by Japanese authors, .hack//Legend of the Twilight MANGA volume 2, .hack//Legend of the Twilight ANIME volume 1, and Juno on DVD, which is kind of amazing, since when i ordered it the Sunday before it came out, there were already 44 people who requested it before me, but it came in to my local library like Wednesday, so i guess i got priority. Win.

Like i've mentioned, things have been very... nice lately. And they were especially nice earlier in the evening. Took a nap for a while. Right now, i'm just eating a bit of leftover supper and chips, watching Ashe draw (actually, she just went to watch some of the anime i sent her. She got her birthday stuff today already [i mailed it Saturday] and said she loved it all, so that's awesome), and i think i'll watch Juno now. Maybe play Okami after....

April 15th, 2008, 05:46 pm - Inside attaches manual and disk.

I... Yeah.

Lets see. Library gives me: .hack//Legend of the Twilight vol. 2, Dragon Ball vol. 6, "New Japanese Voices" short story collection, and "Balls of Fury" on DVD. Took back "Appleseed".

Spontaneously went shopping yesterday morning. Got some soda and chips, a big bag of assorted candies, a bag of Dum Dums (they're really going nuts with the flavors now, it's awesome), some Lemonhead, some red hots, some Charleston Chew (vanilla), some cheap little sea creature toys, and some squishy rubber animals, a few Birthday presents for Ashe, and some shipping boxes. Then i came home, and got my package from Japan, with all the Japanese snacks in. Wasabi Dorotos own, Green tea Kit Kat is a little plain, strawberry Kit Kat is really good, and sakura Kit Kat is the most awesome food ever invented. It's even better than the chocolate mocha Kit Kat, my previously-favorite candy bar. I also tasted three flavors i'd never tasted in my life yesterday. Win.

Helped Ashe with animation last night/this morning. Neglected sleep again. Paying for it now. Oh well. Aeri called this afternoon for a bit. Yes. -s-

Still playing Okami, which kinda put Dirge of Cerberus on the back burner. But i haven't played today. Been too... occupied.

Speaking of, i have no words for things right now. I'm just... stunned an amazed by things, sometimes... all the time. I haven't been this close to feeling truly happy for years. I feel almost... ashamed about it, like i have no right to feel... good about things. Guess that doesn't change the fact that i do. ::sigh::

Today's been a long day, and i have another one tomorrow. Working, reading lots of manga, watching some tv, catching naps when i can, talking to Aeri, watching Ashe draw and giving her ideas for her animation... Too bad i won't have time to play games. April 1st, 2008, 11:07 pm - Support the plug and play.

I think i'm going to eat, watch "I Am Legend", then if i'm not sleepy, play more "Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII", which is the latest game i got from the rental place. I didn't think it'd be as fun as it is, or that i'd be good enough at it to actually be able to play, but i'm doing it. I sent God of War II back yesterday (because i won it Saturday). Mail left here around three pm, and the next game, Okami, already shipped today. Amazing.

And i bought a complete set (six volumes) of Akira manga tonight (from someone i mostly know from her cosplay, and LJ), for the same price as one volume originally cost, and that includes what i'm paying for shipping. Nice. I've wanted to read Akira since high school. Now i'll get to.

Here's a survey i stole from Aeri. She should be amused by it, at least. )

March 27th, 2008

March 27th, 2008, 11:17 am - Honey.

So. I think it's been a while since i made a post. Or it feels like it has been.

Been mostly concentrating on spending time talking with a couple of friends, which happily and pleasantly, takes up most of my time. Have had contact with someone i hadn't talked to in quite a long time, and that was nice, too. Also, lots of video-game playing.

Also: I've been spending money. ;_; Paid to register a program i use a lot, paid for a membership to a website, ordered a usb controller to replace the adapter thingy that i suspect is broken, got a membership to an online game rental place, and a big PS2 memory card to go with it. Also ordered .hack//Infection, the first in the previous .hack series that came before G.U. Dunno if it'll be as good as G.U. since it's older, but it was cheap, and worth a shot. Also paid for fifthdreamtoday.com, which doesn't link to anything yet. I'm told it takes some time for the forwarding/nameservers crap to get working, but i'm not entirely convinced that i didn't do it wrong.

Oh, also ordered some snacks from Japan, the highlights being Wasabi Doritos, some red miso soup, the three flavors of Kit Kat i've always wanted to try (green tea, sakura, and strawberry), coffee candies, green tea mints, and some key lime-flavored gum. Mmmm.

Game rental: Ordered some games before i remembered all the good stuff i want to play. Got Bully and God of War II first. Bully didn't seem scratched, but it wouldn't play. Opening cut scenes skipped, and once i finally got to gameplay, it'd crash within a minute, saying the disc wasn't in. I'm not sure i like the God of War series, but the story is interesting enough, and it's pretty, and it has some "oh s**t" moments that make it worth playing. I suck at them, but like Jet Grind Radio, i sucked just little enough that after a few tries in hard spots, i actually make progress, and that eggs me on.

Most recently: Just playing God of War II, talking to Aeri like whoa, sitting up with Ashe all night, working on con badges, and becoming obsessed with huge mugs of hot tea with various things in it (various combinations of honey, vanilla, almond, and lemon, but i think i may have a cup of mint in a bit... or lemon/almond).

I wonder if i had more to say, but i don't think i do. Maybe i'll play some God of War II.

March 4th, 2008

March 4th, 2008, 02:19 am - Tribal Grappler.

I'm sorry, Aeri, i haven't gone to bed yet. Soon, though.

Been a while, huh? This will be incoherent and nonchronological.

Talking to Aeri quite a bit lately. That makes me happy beyond words. And speaking of, i'm relearning the power words have. -s-

Had/have been having a bit of a panicky time of things. I get paranoid about certain people. Why they're there Now, and may be very distant Later. I wonder if it's personal, if they found something better to do, if it is just the simple explanation of being busy, etc. But it becomes hard for me when that's not communicated *to* me. I feel a bit abandoned. It sounds worse than i acutally feel, but it's a smallish, anxious thing i deal with. I *understand*, but i can't quite relax unless i'm reassured, "no, i haven't fogotten you".

So, filling that void is books and games. I had beaten .hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce, but found a billion things to do afterwards (mostly gathering items, gaining prizes, finishing up a few things, maxing out levels, etc.). I still had some of my favortie events happen after the game was "finished" (Pi's measurements! Age! Real name!). I'd been reading a novel (".hack//AI Buster") and finished it one morning, and in the game that evening, the monster that became a focal point of the entire novel appeared in the game. I was so happy that i read the book, and finished it before that, otherwise it wouldn't have been so cool.

But then, the game was pretty much over. And i found myself facing Lots Of Time On My Hands. Sometimes i have things to do, people to talk to... Sometimes those things dry up, people get busy. understandable. But me, with no one to talk to, and nothing UltraExciting to occupy myself with = that anxiousness i mentioned before. So i was kinda dreading the prospect of getting done with that game, and for various reasons, not being able to get the next one for a week or two.

Luckily i got some books from the library. Dragon Ball Volume 5, Tenchi Muyo!: Sasami Stories, so super cute, with a bunch of 4-panel manga at the end, and .hack//Legend Of The Twilight, the manga that follows after the novel, and takes place in the same universe as the games i'm talking about, just earlier in time. I love manga, and i read a lot, but these books are so good i really look forward to reading them, rather than simply having something cool to read if i have nothing else to do.

(Told you this was going to be all over the place.)

SO. Brings me to today. Had errands to run, trip to the bank, trip to the store, blah blah. Get up after like no sleep, run to Wal-Mart. Grab some soda, some candy (OMG STRAWBERRY WHOPPERS?! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?! YOU ARE HEREBY APPOINTED A NON-SPECIFIC SLOT IN THE LIST OF TOP FOUR BEST CANDIES EVER! KTHX!), a fresh sketchbook which seems to be waiting to be filled with a few ideas i already have, 100 blank dvds (don't have to worry about hard drive space for a while), and HOLY CRAP WTF Wal-Mart has .hack//G.U Vol. 3: Redemption?! And it costs the same as it would online, with shipping?! :O :O ::Buys.:: No waiting for new debit card to arrive in the mail, no waiting for ordering and shipping. No two-to-three weeks without a game i REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want to play all the time. I HAD IT IN MY HANDS (well, after waiting half an hour to find someone who could let it out of the case -.-;). Game is mine. Now you gotta see me type out ".hack//G.U Vol. 3: Redemption" a million times, instead of ".hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce".

Was so excited to find the game, that i forgot to look for/at a few things, but oh well. Went to the bank. Came home. Finished a few things in .hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce, FLIPPED OUT, and played .hack//G.U Vol. 3: Redemption, talked to Aeri, YAY, and OMG DARLA FROM JAPAN I'M SO JEALOUS. SO yeah, Darla's there, and she can get online, so, awesome, and it sounds like she really loves it. So, win. Oh, and then i talked to Aeri some more, and played .hack//G.U Vol. 3: Redemption some more, and got the really risque/dirtyish/don't-let-your-mom-see desktop picture of Pi that Darla had told me about. I left it on my TV. It's on there right now. Pi is awesome. Also: very large in the chestal region (as you can see in my icon).

And i suppose that gets us up to now, in which i am sleepy, and hungry-but-can't-be-botered-to-eat, and making a post instead of going to sleep.

We have weather. 75 yesterday, 18 tomorrow, straight drop from one to the other over three days. Ice. Snow. Thunder. Win.

And now i'll post this and sleep. I hope.

ALSO: P.S. nine inch nails released a new 36-song instrumental album out of nowhere last night. Go download it. It's what Trent wants.

February 19th, 2008, 02:11 pm - 37-22-33,

Been meaning to post, but...

I got a Snoopy valentine with a lolipop in it in the mail the other day from Cat. XD Yay, thank you, Catsy. It made me happy. :D

I beat .hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce a couple of days ago, but i'm still playing it. It's gotta be the most fun game to play after winning ever, except for maybe Katamari Damacy. I got very personal in emails with Pi after the game ended. Now i know her real name, age, and her, ahem, measurements. Pi loves me so much.

Haseo, Antares, and Matsu are the Gothest party ever in an RPG, especially when Haseo uses a Sheaf sword. (Alkaid would be good too, but she's not available now.) The only more-Goth party possible would be Lulu, Fran, and Edea from Final Fantasy, but they're not in the same game. Final Fantasy Allstars, anyone?

Last couple of days? Making moneys, watching way too much tv, getting actual sleep. Hanging out with Ashe tomorrow. Think i'll work on my Rei drawing now. Or maybe play some .hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce.

P.S. New icon. ;P

February 13th, 2008

February 13th, 2008, 06:02 pm - Fixed.

So, a couple of months ago, for no reason i could determine, my joystick stopped working on my PC. A couple of things glitched; sound went out, a program crashed, When i rebooted, no joystick. The Game Controllers control panel wouldn't open. When i tried, either i heard an error sound, or nothing happened at all. Worked on it a little in device manager and such, got the control panel to open, but that's about it. Kinda gave up on it.

Now, besides not being able to use a controller to play games (i have a USB adapter that lets me use my PS2 controller on the computer), i also can't use it how i usually do: as a mouse. I use a program to convert controller input to mouse movement and button presses, and i use it a LOT. Lets me switch windows, check mail, and such without getting up from watching TV, or while i'm playing other games, or lets me change the volume of music or change songs, or whatever, while i'm in bed and such. So a couple of months without that has been, well not terrible, but a little less convenient.

Well, i fixed it today. Got a little ambitions and searched Google again. Found ONE hit relevant to my exact problem. Seemed someone else had the game controller control panel issue, and traced it back to a screwy USB toy he had plugged in to his computer. Well, i had a USB base for a little handheld IM device i don't use much. Unplugged it went back through all the steps i'd been through before. Boom. Works. Tada. So happy. Didn't realize how much i used the controller until i had it working again.

Sucks that Windows Update took three reboots before it finally actually updated anything today, and the start menu kept disappearing/turning black, otherwise i'd be REALY happy about the computer this afternoon. ;P

What else did i do today? Played .hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce (love how long that name is, amuses me to type it out every time) so much i got bored and don't feel like i REALLY REALLY want to play it more tonight. Well, maybe a little. Watched Ashe work for a while on an animation that i helped out with a little, and played a little Super Mario Bros. 3 with her. And i had a salad, with ginger dressing for lunch, mmm. And, ummm... that's it, really. I've also been sleeping lately. Amazing.

Gotta check TV listings for tonight. A bunch of my shows are back on now. -.-; Then i'll grab a glass of tea, and maybe play .hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce (c&p that time) for an hour before Big Brother comes on.

February 12th, 2008, 06:47 am - Five.

Yesterday on All Games Interactive, a live, near-daily broadcast/podcast about video games (kinda) that i listen to, they had a contest of identifying classic arcade game music. If you know me a little, you know this is one of my Things. So i decided to swallow my shyness and call the show for the first time, despite having listened for YEARS. Well, long story short, i won. I was the first with five correct answers (Duck Hunt, Frogger, Galaxian, Pole Position, and Double Dragon - the last one being a TOTAL guess). The other guy got none. :x I chose a F.E.A.R. stand-alone expansion as my prize during the show, but asked Scot (the host) later, if i could have Jade Empire for PC instead. Not sure which he's acutlaly gonna send, but it's ok, i'm sure my PC can't handle either, and i'd have fun with either one. So i'll save my prize for the future.

Some of you may remember, though i can't find the acutal LJ entry, that this is not the first time i won a prize for identifying classic arcade game music. I did this once before on a G4 show, either Attack Of The Show, or Screensavers, whichever it was at the time. G4 never did send me my prize, though. But hey, all that time "wasted" playing games as a kid has pays off.

Also, here's a link to where you can dowload the podcast if you wanna hear me win. I call in during minute #26.
